After two years and three attempts at holding our Golden Gala, we are rockin’ it one more time!
Mark your calendars for Saturday April 23, 2022 as the Gala is certainly the one DVGRR event that you do not want to miss, and we’re sure everyone is going to be ready to celebrate since so much time has passed since the last Gala!
The staff is often heard saying, “Our supporters rock!” and “Our adopters rock!” and “Our volunteers rock!” So we’re using the theme: Rockin’ Rescue. According to cyberdefinitions.com, the word ROCKIN’ means outstanding or excellent, and it’s fitting because we all believe that because of you, that is exactly what DVGRR is… a Rockin’ Rescue!
The Gala is a time to celebrate, reminisce, catch up with old friends, and meet new ones! For more than 20 years, this event has continued to grow as more attendees bring their friends to enjoy the evening and celebrate DVGRR. It’s an evening that isn’t just about the dogs or the rescue but rather what makes DVGRR the organization that it is today. It is a celebration of the DVGRR family – the supporters, volunteers, and adopters working together for the love of the dogs we rescue. The last few years have been a challenge, but working together, we’ve all come through it, so let’s celebrate and rock the night away!
We are very happy to share that author David Rosenfelt will be joining us for a book signing from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Several of Mr. Rosenfelt’s novels will be available for purchase and personalization with a portion of each sale donated back to DVGRR. Mr. Rosenfelt has written many novels based on the character, Attorney Andy Carpenter, a dog lover who has a reputation for saving both dogs and humans from death row. With the help of his beloved Golden Retriever, Tara, Andy solves cases and wins courtroom battles. During dinner, Mr. Rosenfelt will briefly speak about his own personal love of rescue and his best-selling book, Dogtripping, which documents his cross-country travel adventure with his wife, 11 volunteers, three RVs, and 25 rescue dogs! To learn more about David Rosenfelt, visit his website at www.davidrosenfelt.com. And thanks to Reads & Company Bookshop for supplying his books.
You’ll want to arrive promptly at 4:00 p.m., as the evening starts off with our ever-growing Silent Auction, along with delicious hors d’ oeuvres, chance raffles, and games. Dinner begins at 6:00, and entertainment will include our very popular and highly competitive Live Auction with exclusive one-of-a-kind items as well as fabulous trips and the chance to feature your DVGRR dog on our annual calendar! We will also spotlight a video starring the DVGRR dogs (and staff) that will be sure to make you smile and maybe even sing along.
We guarantee a fun, music-themed event, so be sure to dust off those old concert shirts as they will be accepted for attire at this event, but please remember no denim. Whether you choose to dress up or rock it out in concert garb, we promise that you’ll have ROCKIN’ great time.
In order to rock the Gala, we need your help with and are looking for unique items for our auctions! Things like:
Unique experiences, vacation home or timeshares, private dinner or wine/beer tasting party, decorative theme baskets, gourmet food or cooking items/lessons, wine and liquor, home and garden items, outdoor furnishings/décor, professional services (e.g., interior design, cleaning, landscape planning, home improvement), electronics (e.g., iPad/iPod and accessories, laptop or notebook, flat screen television), round of golf, golf clubs or accessories, sporting equipment or autographed sports memorabilia, tickets to sporting events, team clothing, restaurant or hotel gift certificates, theater or concert tickets, wardrobe accessories (e.g., jewelry, scarf, purse), spa gifts, or store gift cards.
This is a sample of ideas, but we do need to emphasize that items must be new! Questions about donations can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking for Wine and Liquor donations for our Golden Gala event! We always have a WINE/ LIQUOR “game” at our Gala event and need donations of Wine and Liquor Bottles (any flavor, brand , or variety will work. Examples: Flavored Vodka’s, Tequila’s, Rums, Bourbons, etc…) to make it a great success! If you received a bottle of booze as a Christmas gift and it’s not your taste, consider donating it to our Gala event! Consider your donation a toast to honor the DVGRR dogs.
Questions about donations can be emailed to email@example.com.
Registration is now closed. If you are a Golden Circle member, two tickets are included with your membership, so please email Karen (Karen@dvgrr.org) with your meal selections.
